Brad and Beckie are Married

July 1st, 2010

I was so excited to photograph Brad and Beckie’s wedding as soon as I had wrapped up their engagement session. The love between the two of them was captivating and beautiful. I had heard so much about the notorious wedding party and as Saturday came upon us, once again the sky was open and the rain was coming down (I truly hope our summer arrives sooner rather than later).

We travelled to Sir James Whitney in Belleville after wrapping up a beautiful ceremony at Christ Church and braved the rain to capture some family shots before moving under some fantastic enclosures on the premises. The rain didn’t dampen the spirits and I was so happy to find some new fabulous locations to shoot.

After we left Sir James Whitney, we headed to Occasions By The Bay for the reception, dinner, dancing and fun!

Thank you again Brad and Beckie for allowing me to share in your special day, all the best as you begin this life together.

Ryan and Erin are Married

June 30th, 2010

I finally had the chance to meet Ryan and Erin the evening before their wedding. They had asked if they could use their engagement photos for their rehearsal dinner instead and I happily agreed. It was easy to tell their laid back attitude before ever spending a moment with the happy couple. The pulled pork sandwiches and completely relaxed vibe was evident the moment I arrived at Isaiah Tubbs. Laughter, and anticipation of the coming day filled the air that evening.

Fast forward to Saturday afternoon and my arrival to Beach House #704. The weather had taken a turn for the worse and the fear of rain was in the back of everyones minds. Rain it did, but in the tradition of Prince Edward County’s unpredictable weather patterns the sky began to brighten half an hour before the ceremony. I told Erin it was going to clear up. Twenty minutes later the clouds had parted and the sun was shining. Erin turned to me and offered a high-five for my favourable weather prediction.

The rain stayed away and the ceremony was beautiful!

Thank you so much Ryan and Erin for allowing me to be part of your day. I wish you all the best as you begin your life together as a married couple.

Ryan and Julie are Engaged!

June 24th, 2010

A couple weeks ago I met up with Ryan and Julie for their engagement shoot at Birdhouse City in Prince Edward County. We spent some time touring around and having some fun.

Here are just a few pics from their shoot.

Christian and Carmen are Married

May 31st, 2010

For months I’ve waited, anxiously for the day to arrive… it finally did, Wedding Season was once again upon us.

I first met Christian and Carmen last year. They had been referred to me by a girl who I went to high school with that I had scoured my Facebook fan page, and enjoyed my photos enough to share them. I can’t tell you how much this excited me. As a photographer and in most businesses, you count on your referrals, and to have one from someone who I haven’t talked to in years was very complimentary for me. Thank you Krista!

Christian and Carmen had fallen in love with the Terra Cotta Inn, in Caledon. I was ecstatic at the thought of photographing at a place that my parents had taken me as a child. I grew up in Caledon and the Inn was the spot for wings and a few games of darts. It delighted me to start my season off in a place so close to my heart.

The rain was intermittent in the morning, but stopped just long enough to explore the outside grounds of the Inn and capture some wonderful moments. Thank you so much Christian and Carmen for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. All the best as you begin this new life together.

Ashley and Patrick on the blog

April 19th, 2010

There are so many things I love about living in Canada… our rapidly changing weather is not always one of my faves though. After a beautiful Easter long weekend of above twenty weather we hit the lows again over the weekend. Patrick and Ashley (who you might have seen on the blog before), embraced our crazy weather conditions and decided to move forth with their shoot rather than reschedule. I am so happy we got to go out. The day turned from a damp blowy morning into a well not to shabby chilly afternoon. We had a lot of fun bouncing around different settings at Birdhouse City on McCauley Mountain in Picton.

I have shot here a few times and it is still a beautiful location, I’m often surprised at the things we don’t see even though we visit a place often. The pond that sits just next to the parking lot had a beautiful walking trail that leads around to the top of it, and made for a beautiful spot.

Blog posting and Niagara Falls

March 10th, 2010

I find it slightly shameful how un blog savvy I have been over these last few months. I think it’s part and partial due to the fact that the level of shooting I do over the winter months probably drops considerably. That said, however, I think it’s mostly my lack of ideas.

This is a sad but true statement I’m not sure I should really admit to. I mean wedding photography requires me to always be thinking of new ways to be creative… yet here I sit blank minded, writing a blog about not writing blogs. I’m sure in some world this is a huge faux pas.

When I was younger you couldn’t tear me away from a computer. I was always writing short stories or attempting new novels. I’m not sure where I lost that sense. A few months ago I thought it would be fun to write a short story. My brain was lost. Is it possible that as we grow older one side of our brain takes over and the other falls to the wayside? As I grew as a photographer did my writing diminish?

On any note, my goal over the next two months is to dust off my writing and populate this space more… hound me if I fall short of this goal.

On a completely separate thought, this weekend I’m off to Niagara Falls, staying at the beautiful Holiday Inn. I will post pictures when I return (see a blog post in the works ;) .

Until then…
