Christian and Carmen are Married

May 31st, 2010

For months I’ve waited, anxiously for the day to arrive… it finally did, Wedding Season was once again upon us.

I first met Christian and Carmen last year. They had been referred to me by a girl who I went to high school with that I had scoured my Facebook fan page, and enjoyed my photos enough to share them. I can’t tell you how much this excited me. As a photographer and in most businesses, you count on your referrals, and to have one from someone who I haven’t talked to in years was very complimentary for me. Thank you Krista!

Christian and Carmen had fallen in love with the Terra Cotta Inn, in Caledon. I was ecstatic at the thought of photographing at a place that my parents had taken me as a child. I grew up in Caledon and the Inn was the spot for wings and a few games of darts. It delighted me to start my season off in a place so close to my heart.

The rain was intermittent in the morning, but stopped just long enough to explore the outside grounds of the Inn and capture some wonderful moments. Thank you so much Christian and Carmen for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. All the best as you begin this new life together.

Ashley and Patrick on the blog

April 19th, 2010

There are so many things I love about living in Canada… our rapidly changing weather is not always one of my faves though. After a beautiful Easter long weekend of above twenty weather we hit the lows again over the weekend. Patrick and Ashley (who you might have seen on the blog before), embraced our crazy weather conditions and decided to move forth with their shoot rather than reschedule. I am so happy we got to go out. The day turned from a damp blowy morning into a well not to shabby chilly afternoon. We had a lot of fun bouncing around different settings at Birdhouse City on McCauley Mountain in Picton.

I have shot here a few times and it is still a beautiful location, I’m often surprised at the things we don’t see even though we visit a place often. The pond that sits just next to the parking lot had a beautiful walking trail that leads around to the top of it, and made for a beautiful spot.

Gearing Up

April 7th, 2010

Wow… Life has been crazy, hectic and amazing all at once these days! I can’t believe how quickly wedding season is approaching and nor can I wait! It’s time to hit the ground running but before we say hello to the warmer weather, sunshine and the favourable endless days which turn to beautiful nights, there is one last stop… For those who are unaware the Picton Bridal Show will take place this Sunday from 1-4. Admission is only $2 and here you will find a one-stop shop of all the fabulous vendors in and around Prince Edward County.

Whether you are seeking fabulous flowers, a fantastic DJ who will keep your guests moving or the perfect gown… it is all here. Oh and if you still haven’t found your perfect photographer…. hint hint, nudge nudge! ;)

Blog posting and Niagara Falls

March 10th, 2010

I find it slightly shameful how un blog savvy I have been over these last few months. I think it’s part and partial due to the fact that the level of shooting I do over the winter months probably drops considerably. That said, however, I think it’s mostly my lack of ideas.

This is a sad but true statement I’m not sure I should really admit to. I mean wedding photography requires me to always be thinking of new ways to be creative… yet here I sit blank minded, writing a blog about not writing blogs. I’m sure in some world this is a huge faux pas.

When I was younger you couldn’t tear me away from a computer. I was always writing short stories or attempting new novels. I’m not sure where I lost that sense. A few months ago I thought it would be fun to write a short story. My brain was lost. Is it possible that as we grow older one side of our brain takes over and the other falls to the wayside? As I grew as a photographer did my writing diminish?

On any note, my goal over the next two months is to dust off my writing and populate this space more… hound me if I fall short of this goal.

On a completely separate thought, this weekend I’m off to Niagara Falls, staying at the beautiful Holiday Inn. I will post pictures when I return (see a blog post in the works ;) .

Until then…

Wedding Show Brochureware

January 31st, 2010

I went to see Rene at Scout Design a few weeks back now in an attempt to create something beautiful and fun for my upcoming bridal shows. I wanted something that I thought couples would hold onto, more so than just a simple rack card.

After mulling over various ideas we got to talking about an article I had seen earlier in the week about the importance of having a professional photographer to capture the most important moments of the biggest day of your life. Somehow this led to a conversation on the ‘hear say’ rules of photography. Some are so obviously untrue but others seem to be the favoured myths.

Please take a look and let me know your thoughts!

Happy New Year and Congrats!

January 3rd, 2010

Well, 2010 has finally arrived and much sooner than I could have imagined. That said, I am so excited as I know wedding season will soon be upon us! The kick-off will actually begin two weeks today with the Kingston Bridal Show on January 17th. This will be my first year in Kingston and I am so excited to meet all the couples and brides-to-be! All going well the following weekend I will be returning to the Quinte Mall Bridal Show, which is always a fabulous event!

I would also like to extend my congratulations to any and all couples that got engaged over the Holiday Season! I hope you will stop by and visit the Adelita Rose booth if you are attending either of the two shows. I look forward to meeting you all!

All the best in the New Year!

Caitlin

Looking Forward

November 30th, 2009

So first off, I have to apologize for my serious slack on updating my blog lately. I took a wee bit of a breather after wrapping up wedding season late last month and am now gearing up and looking forward to 2010. I will be kicking off the wedding drum on Sunday, January 17th where you will find me at the Kingston Bridal Show. This will be my first year at this show and I couldn’t be more excited to experience it.

I am so excited for next year’s wedding season and can’t believe how quickly the year is booking up… on that note please, please don’t wait till it’s too late and your day is taken :D

Taking a step back though I am happy to announce that I will be launching into Boudoir shoots this coming holiday season, so if you are looking for that extra special gift for your special someone please fill in the contact form. These will also make an amazing Valetine’s day present.

Until then I hope you will keep checking back for updates and new posts!
