Eric and Deanna are Married!

July 29th, 2010

As wedding season is full on now I am doing my best to keep up with posting, but sometimes can be a bit tardy. My apologies to anyone anxiously awaiting their sneak peak.

Eric and Deanna were married July 10th of this year in a small ceremony in Yarker. It was a beautiful and intimate setting and after we ventured into Yarker and then over to Amherstview for photos.

As always I had a blast hanging out with the awesome couple on their special day. Thank you so much Eric and Deanna and all the best as you begin your life together.

Blog posting and Niagara Falls

March 10th, 2010

I find it slightly shameful how un blog savvy I have been over these last few months. I think it’s part and partial due to the fact that the level of shooting I do over the winter months probably drops considerably. That said, however, I think it’s mostly my lack of ideas.

This is a sad but true statement I’m not sure I should really admit to. I mean wedding photography requires me to always be thinking of new ways to be creative… yet here I sit blank minded, writing a blog about not writing blogs. I’m sure in some world this is a huge faux pas.

When I was younger you couldn’t tear me away from a computer. I was always writing short stories or attempting new novels. I’m not sure where I lost that sense. A few months ago I thought it would be fun to write a short story. My brain was lost. Is it possible that as we grow older one side of our brain takes over and the other falls to the wayside? As I grew as a photographer did my writing diminish?

On any note, my goal over the next two months is to dust off my writing and populate this space more… hound me if I fall short of this goal.

On a completely separate thought, this weekend I’m off to Niagara Falls, staying at the beautiful Holiday Inn. I will post pictures when I return (see a blog post in the works ;) .

Until then…

Wedding Show Brochureware

January 31st, 2010

I went to see Rene at Scout Design a few weeks back now in an attempt to create something beautiful and fun for my upcoming bridal shows. I wanted something that I thought couples would hold onto, more so than just a simple rack card.

After mulling over various ideas we got to talking about an article I had seen earlier in the week about the importance of having a professional photographer to capture the most important moments of the biggest day of your life. Somehow this led to a conversation on the ‘hear say’ rules of photography. Some are so obviously untrue but others seem to be the favoured myths.

Please take a look and let me know your thoughts!

Happy New Year and Congrats!

January 3rd, 2010

Well, 2010 has finally arrived and much sooner than I could have imagined. That said, I am so excited as I know wedding season will soon be upon us! The kick-off will actually begin two weeks today with the Kingston Bridal Show on January 17th. This will be my first year in Kingston and I am so excited to meet all the couples and brides-to-be! All going well the following weekend I will be returning to the Quinte Mall Bridal Show, which is always a fabulous event!

I would also like to extend my congratulations to any and all couples that got engaged over the Holiday Season! I hope you will stop by and visit the Adelita Rose booth if you are attending either of the two shows. I look forward to meeting you all!

All the best in the New Year!

Brad and Beckie are Engaged!

December 6th, 2009

About a week back I was on a walk with my dogs; the light was beautiful, and although I’d walked the trail countless times before I saw it differently that day and fell in love with the spot. I instantly wanted to shoot. Maybe it was from a slight with drawl of not shooting as much as I had all summer. Either way I asked Brad and Beckie, one of my 2010 couples if they would consider going there for their engagement shoot, I was so pleased when they agreed.

So on Saturday we met at Miss Lily’s in Picton and headed out to the trail; three dogs in tote. We did most of the photos on the trail before heading out to Lake on The Mountain.

Thank you so much Brad and Beckie for trusting my judgement, you are such a beautiful and natural couple! I can’t wait till you tie the knot on June 26th of next year!

Looking Forward

November 30th, 2009

So first off, I have to apologize for my serious slack on updating my blog lately. I took a wee bit of a breather after wrapping up wedding season late last month and am now gearing up and looking forward to 2010. I will be kicking off the wedding drum on Sunday, January 17th where you will find me at the Kingston Bridal Show. This will be my first year at this show and I couldn’t be more excited to experience it.

I am so excited for next year’s wedding season and can’t believe how quickly the year is booking up… on that note please, please don’t wait till it’s too late and your day is taken :D

Taking a step back though I am happy to announce that I will be launching into Boudoir shoots this coming holiday season, so if you are looking for that extra special gift for your special someone please fill in the contact form. These will also make an amazing Valetine’s day present.

Until then I hope you will keep checking back for updates and new posts!

Brant and Erica are Engaged!!

November 17th, 2009

I first met Erica in 2003 when we both started up at Loyalist College in the Photojournalism program. I got to know Erica very well through class, chasing news and hanging out with friends. A year later her, then boyfriend Brant started the program and moved to Belleville. Last year when Brant proposed to Erica, I was honoured when the couple came to me about shooting their wedding. The couple will tie the knot next September in Kingston.

On Sunday I met up with the couple to shoot some more untraditional engagement photos. After losing light quickly, we decided that we would reconvene over the Winter months for a second shoot.

A Bittersweet End

October 20th, 2009

On Saturday, I joined Curt and Emily as they declared their love for one another with the vows of marriage.

It was a slightly bittersweet day for me; as always the wedding was beautiful and the couple looked amazing, but this was my last wedding of the season, and I was sad to see it end.

We started the day off at the beautiful Clarion Inn and Suites hotel in Belleville’s downtown before moving to the Greek Hall for the ceremony.

After a beautiful ceremony we headed to Sir James Whitney school to capture a few family shots and then wrapped up on the Waterfront trail. Aside from a slightly brisk breeze the day was beautiful, and the fall colours were out in force.

After wrapping up we headed back to the Greek Hall for a beautiful reception and dinner!

Thank you so much Emily and Curt for making my last wedding an amazing day. I wish you both all the best as you start this new chapter in your lives!

Muskoka Love

September 22nd, 2009

On Saturday, I joined Erica and Mat in Port Severn for their family filled resort wedding. The couple had decided while planning their wedding to have it centered not just on them and their day but on the people that meant the most to them. What resulted was a two-day wedding getaway.

Although the ceremony went off without a hitch, the much anticipated wedding had it’s fair share of ups and downs. Three weeks ago the couple contacted me in a panic as after unreturned emails and phone calls they learned their originally planned resort had foreclosed on them forcing them to move their entire wedding. The couple was lucky enough to stumble across Port Severn Lodge a beautiful resort nestled in the Muskoka region.

Congratulations Mat and Erica and thank you for allowing me to share in your day! I had a wonderful time!
